NFL Teams Up with Sony to Launch New Coach Headsets Ahead of 2025 Season

The league has said that, in partnership with Sony, it was expanding its technology partnership to come up with new headsets to be used by coaches and these would be rolled out in the upcoming season. It marks the end of a three-year lack of a headset sponsor since it lost its contract with Bose in 2022.

On the part of the coaches, the new headsets were tested in hot and excruciating cold environments and were more noise canceling, plus they have a custom microphone that has been more modified to isolate the voice of the coach, which helps him communicate.

This one-year long construction of the headsets was all a result of a collaboration between Sony, the NFL, the clubs, coaches, and the game day users, according to Kimberly Fields, senior vice president of football operations at NFL she told CNN. The coaches would continuously provide a feed-back on what mattered to them.

Specifically, durability made up a significant feature, particularly bearing in mind that other games are played during downpours, high heat, and below zero temperatures. Shunsuke Nakahashi, Sony product manager of audio quality, said engineers took the headsets into freezers, onto the surrounding streets of hot and humid Tokyo, and even in the shower, to make sure they are waterproof.

The most significant aspect of it is that all the headsets work fine under any circumstances, he added to CNN. It is pleasant in the fall in Southern California. But it must be operating flawlessly in the month of January in Buffalo or in hot weather in Miami.
Through the rigorous testing, the NFL should be able to prevent the fiasco that it experienced with Microsoft Surface tablets in 2013. Not long after her reported $400 million partnership started to be advertised, coaches and players spoke out against the devices as something that was not functioning or simply too complex to handle. Surface tablets are present even now although they had a bumpy start.
