Jacob Misiorowski Earns All-Star Nod After Electric MLB Debut and 100+ MPH Heat

The 23 year-old was called in to replace the Chicago Cubs Matthew Boyd who will not play as he is scheduled to pitch on Saturday against New York Yankees before participating in the All Star Game on Tuesday.
With a fastball that tops out at 103 mph (166 kph), Misiorowski has long been touted to be named an All Star- and, given the speed at which the youngster has been pitching, the only surprise might be exactly when the accolade was going to come through.
He had just started his MLB career, last month, a streak of the 11 no-hit innings, an ordeal more than any other starter has come up with at the beginning of his career since the modern era of baseball started, way back in 1900.
He is 4-1 in five appearances with Milwaukee with a 2.81 ERA. His fastball has been clocked at 99.3 mph (160 kph), on average, as 89 of his pitches have been reaching 100 mph (161 kph).
Nevertheless, Misiorowski told MLB that the call-up rendered him speechless. Manager Pat Murphy of Brewers informed him only three minutes before he was to line up to play the national anthem prior to their 8-3 victory over Washington Nationals on Friday but he instructed him not to mention about it.
Murphy then told the whole Brewers team at the end of the game and then an emotional Misiorowski spoke to his team mates.
I have nothing guys, I do not know what to say, he said. I do not know how to speak. It is a pleasure and there is a lot older fellas around that have been a whole lot longer than myself so I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the help you guys have gave me coming through these couples of weeks I have been here, it has been enormous.”
